| Apps Associates - Point Of
Sales |
|
| Apps Associates has built a custom Point of Sale Application
for Ironage Corporation. |
|
| Customer Requirements: The
requirement was for a point of sales application for its retail sales operations. The
major requirement of the system was that the application needed to: |
|
 |
Solve the issues with the legacy POS system, which had quite a few gaps in
functionality. |
 |
Make it easier for the trucks to enter the sales details into the system. |
 |
Enable the Stores to sync up the Main Stores Inventory. |
 |
Integration of the POS system with the Oracle ERP system |
 |
Need to deploy the POS application at over 100 locations across USA and Canada . |
 |
Streamlined POS process. |
|
|
Application Definition: The
Point of Sales application covers the retail sales, seamlessly integrates the orders
generated in the retail side to the Oracle ERP main application. The users of the
application would be
the truck drivers who would be responsible for the sales at a customer site and the Store
managers of individual stores to which the trucks belong.
Application Architecture: Apps Associates chose C#.Net
Language to develop the application on Three
Tier architecture model that consists of the Presentation Layer, the Business Logic Layer
and the Data Access layer. The application has a standalone front-end component to be
installed on individual laptops/desktops. This front-end component is built on the . NET
framework with ADO.NET as the data access layer to talk to a local MySQL database. The
MySQL database stores data about sales, customers, items, prices, etc. The POS application
also has a server side component residing in an Oracle database.
Using these technologies, Apps Associates team succeeded in migrating all the requisite
features in their existing POS software, at the same also providing a user-friendly
application with additional features. Deploying onsite/offshore methodology, Apps
Associates team interacts smoothly with the client to understand the business requirements
to deliver the application.
