| Integrating Oracle Applications with
3rd Party Logistics Vendors |
|
Are you looking for huge business expansion and worried of
warehouse and Shipping operations?
Businesses are increasingly outsourcing the Logistics these days to concentrate on their
core business and let the 3PLs handle the Shipping and Warehouse management. It would be
no longer an issue if you could find a right partner whom you can rely for warehouse and
shipping operations. All you need to do is having tied up with a 3 rd Party Logistics
vendor (3PL) who is into the same business for long time and who can cater the
requirements of your organization.
Be focused at core business rather on Warehouse and Shipping gadgets. Identify a right
partner to outsource warehouse and shipping transactions. Let Apps Associates integrate
your Oracle Applications and the 3PL vendor.
Apps Associates has successfully executed this at a couple of their clients. It has proven
success record for integrating Oracle Applications with a 3PL vendor system in the areas
of Procurement (Purchase Orders and Purchase Order Receipts), Sales and Distribution (Pick
release and Ship Confirmations), Inventory Transactions (Sub-inventory Transfers, Move
Order Transfer) and Items data (Item Attributes and On-hand Quantities).
The technical architecture, acceptable data file format and the mode of data exchange are
important for a successful implementation. We secured certain ports on the external
servers and made them open between the two companies. We used FTP with good checksum logic
to exchange the files. Data transfer frequency is set at a predefined interval for each of
the transactions and the standard Oracle Applications concurrent managers were used for
scheduling.
Integrating the inventory functions at real time between two companies poses many
challenges right from the connectivity to the business exception processing. There were
many lessons learnt and from which we could form some best practices for such integration
projects.
Our solution includes a secure portal to monitor the interfaces and view the interface
data files and log files.
