| Oracle Mobile Supply Chain |
|
| Oracle Mobile Supply Chain Applications (MSCA) brings the
power of the eBusiness applications to the handheld devices; this allows the data to be
recorded right from where the action happens - in the warehouse or shipping dock or the
receiving areas. However the generic screen designs do not fit to most of the
implementations as the screen and data entry flows have to emulate the exact business
flows in the warehouse. And another important fact is to realize that the users of this
application are the forklift operators, shipping personnel and the receiving personnel,
their primary job is to operate the machinery properly and then enter the data into the
system. This makes it even more pivotal to design the MSCA module according to the exact
business flows to make the implementation a success. |

| Our Experience |
|
| Apps Associates has successfully implemented the Oracle
Mobile Supply Chain Applications at two places: |
|
 |
Kaz Incorporated |
 |
Iron Age Corporation |
|
|
| We had also presented whitepapers at the Oracle Applications
User Group conferences on this topic giving the best practices in implementing the MSCA
module. |
|
| Kaz Incorporated |
|
| At Kaz, we are involved from the infrastructure planning for
the warehouse in terms of access points, handheld devices and connectivity to the final
implementation and end user training. Below are the highlights of this implementation |
|
 |
Complete Architecture planning - Access Points, hand held devices, label
printers, connectivity etc. |
 |
MSCA screen customization, this includes decompiling the original java classes and
customizing them with the goal of making them least intrusive with the standard functionality |
 |
Making the application user friendly in terms of barcodes scanning and making each
business flow with as little clicks as possible - most of the flows needed only 3 clicks to
complete. Implemented MSCA with the business flows driven by lot number, for example the
sub-inventory transfer would entail reading in the lot number (bar code) and then moving the
lot to the new location in the warehouse, scan in the new locator and press submit button. |

Implemented the application at 2 different warehouses in USA |
|
|
Iron Age Corporation
At Iron Age, we had implemented the receiving transactions in the warehouse. An
added flavor here is to accommodate the application to the retail business; the end users
are also the replenishment receivers at the retail stores.
Conclusion
We have very strong experience implementing the Oracle Mobile Supply Chain Applications,
we are involved in all phases of the implementation from infrastructure planning to the
end user training and rollout. |
