The Features We Love in Oracle Cloud Applications Release 13 – Oracle SCM Cloud

Oracle announced its Cloud Application Release 13, 18A upgrade in February 2018 and it is really creating some buzz here at Apps Associates. So with all the great features being released, we asked our Oracle Cloud Consultants to highlight the key features. Here are their favorite picks for Oracle SCM Cloud with Oracle Help Center and tutorial links to provide you with more information. Start here to learn about all Oracle Cloud Releases.

Oracle SCM Cloud

Inventory Management
There are a ton of great features available with this  application but the two below are what caught our attention. Refer to the “Using Inventory Management” from the Oracle Help Center.

Create material reservations through REST services
Use this public REST Service to create reservations by organization and item, by revision, lot, sub-inventory, locator, and serial number. This new feature enables user-defined demand.

Import Product Genealogy data for initial data upload
Oracle SCM Cloud allows users to import product genealogy data for serial-controlled or lot-controlled products during implementation data upload. The import includes serial number or lot definition, related component structures, and transaction history.

Work Execution

Pick Materials for Work Orders
Pick materials for manufacturing and maintenance work orders to ensure parts are available for execution. Picked materials can either be moved to the work order supply sub-inventory, or issued directly to the work order.

E-Signatures and E-Records
E-Signature updates allow you to identify the meaning associated with a signature in a separate field while approving a signature. Prior to this update, the meaning associated with a signature was captured as a comment.

Updates to E-Records include the ability to use the details in an electronic record’s body and signature as search criteria. This will come in mighty handy when undergoing audits or preparing for one where providing the confirmation of a transaction by retrieving all matching records is critical.

Oracle Maintenance Cloud
This is a new installed base module so we are excited about everything with this one. Maintenance and repair processes must be consistent and repeatable without increasing costs and this can be achieved with Oracle Maintenance Cloud. Schedule maintenance activities for assets and establish maintenance processes that satisfy key requirements. Users can:

  • Create and manage assets
  • Set Up the Organization for Performing Maintenance Activities
  • Define Consistent and Reusable Maintenance Processes
  • Define and Manage Maintenance Activity
  • Perform Execution Transactions
  • Manage Maintenance Exceptions
  • Use the Import Feature
  • Use the Oracle Social Network

Order Management
Refer to “Oracle Cloud Release Readiness- Order Management” for complete information.

Manage Pricing Rules in spreadsheets
Now you can leverage Oracle’s spreadsheet-based ADFdi services to modify multiple price lists, discount lists and pricing profiles to reflect changes to your pricing policies and profitability targets. Now it is easy to apply the changes to multiple objects like price lists, standard discounts, and customer pricing profiles.

Global Order Promising
Select the product catalog to reference in an assignment set when making sourcing assignments. Users can flexibly define their supply chain structure using assignment sets.

Supply Chain Planning
Refer to “Oracle Cloud Release Readiness – Supply Chain Planning” for complete information.

Sales and Operations Planning
Now you can create and edit Bills of Resources for Simulations. Manage new bills of resources within a simulation set. After creating a simulation set, you can edit bills of resources within the same user interface. This feature simplifies the process of managing bills of resources used for running new supply simulations.

The ability to specify different item catalogs for different sourcing rules allows you to select the product catalog to be referenced in an assignment set when making sourcing assignments. This feature allows you to flexibly define your supply chain structure using assignment sets. For example, you can specify two different product catalogs for two different assignment sets: one for order promising, and the other for supply planning.

Supply Planning
Now users can identify planners by name and description in the supplies and demands table. This feature makes it easier for you to identify planners, if the planner names are expressed in codes and the planner description contains more information about the planner. You can display planner name, planner description, or both, based on your preference.

Demand Management
Now users can set table height as either Short or Tall, which lets you tailor the table height to your display resolution for easier data analysis in tables, such as the Material Plan table. The default table height setting is Tall, which maximizes the number of table rows displayed. You can change the table height setting to Short and save the setting to accommodate devices with a lower display resolution.

In-Memory Cost Management Cloud Service (IMCMSC)

IMCMSC is a new Software as a Service (SaaS) on a Platform as a Service (PaaS) subscription offering. It provides a thorough bottom to top approach to maximize profit margins. You will have a near real-time look into all aspects of cost management.

IMCMSC is for cost accountants, managers and line of business owners that operate in finance, operations, manufacturing and procurement.
